Pragati, Koraput has been promopting eco-friendly irrigation infrastructures like Solar Dug Wells, Solar Bore wells, Solar Pumps, Diversion Based Irrigation Infrastrucures with the objective to create better livelihood opportunities through supporting farmers for establishment of irrigation infrastructures in their farm lands along with demonstration of model farming for the economic benefit and food security of the small and marginal farmers.

Pragati is implementing the “Special Programme for Promotion of Millets in Tribal Areas of Odisha” with the support of Odisha Millet Mission, Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Government of Odisha in Nandapur Block since 2017. The programme works through four verticals — production, consumption, value addition and marketing. The programme also contributes towards conservation of bio-diversity; bring about greater climate resilience and achieving better nutritional outcomes.

Facilitation for Organic Entrepreneurs

Pragati promotes organic practices for small and marginal farmers to reduce their dependency on external inputs and protect soil health. As the farmers do not get enough organic manure, nor do they have the time to produce for themselves, Pragati has started the concept of developing organic enterprises by supporting the farmers and training them to prepare and market organic formulations. The farmers have started producing and selling different organic manures to the farmers at doorsteps, generating income and reducing chemical fertiliser use.
